Governance
Under the leadership of Lightfoot, UBC will be the main hub for the partnership. UBC’s School of Public Policy and Global Affairs, where Lightfoot is partially appointed will be the host institution for the grant and will provide funding contributions to support doctoral student assistance and many of Lightfoot’s travel costs in the project with other costs covered by the Department of Political Science, where Lightfoot is cross-appointed.
The structure of the partnership will follow the three themes identified in earlier workshops held at UBC and virtually: 1) Law and Constitutions, 2) Politics, Policy and Practice, and 3) Methodology and Dissemination. In order to facilitate ongoing decision-making regarding activities and goals of the network, we will form a steering committee, which will consist of one co-applicant researcher to represent each of the three research themes, plus one Indigenous and NGO practitioner co-applicant. On this steering committee, chaired by Lightfoot, Charters will represent theme 1, MacDonald will represent theme 2 and Gentelet theme 3. In addition, Preston will sit on the steering committee to represent the needs and interests of practitioner partners throughout the network activities.
